SSSAFE’s Principal Ecologist, Garon Staines, has over 15 years experience in environmental management and ecological surveys and assessments.  Garon is a highly skilled terrestrial ecologist with particular expertise in the rare and threatened species of the Sydney Basin and Hunter Valley regions. Garon has managed numerous projects working with the NSW State and Federal planning systems and is a professional member of the Ecological Society of Australia and Ecological Consultants Association of NSW. He is also a qualified bush regenerator and a full member of the Australian Association of Bush Regenerators.

SSSAFE Director Craig Adams is an experienced field ecologist and has worked in many Australian habitats, including travelling to some of the country’s most remote locations in search of venomous spiders and snakes for inclusion in the Australian Reptile Park’s Venom Program and for scientific purposes.

With his wife, Jackie, Craig has featured in numerous National Geographic and Discovery Channel programs on the world’s most venomous creatures. Feature documentaries include the Snake Wranglers (Nat Geo), Hunt for the Lost Serpent and Toad Warriors/Venom Hunters (Animal Planet). He worked alongside Steve Irwin as a consultant on his film “Oceans’ Deadliest” and continues to work periodically with Steve’s best friend John Stainton in an advisory and “to camera” role.

Craig acted as an animal consultant for the world renowned wildlife photographerGregory Colbert’s Australia tour, the BBC Deadly 60 Series, the Sydney University School of Biological Sciences Introduction to Field Research and the Broad Headed Snake Recovery Program with Dr Jonathan Webb.  Together with Jackie, they have also featured in numerous other television, print media and documentary films. Craig is acknowledged by his peers as the “go to” person in his industry.
